Replacing a Cabinet Can Change the Right Mirror Position

A completed mirror adjustment shows why new furniture dimensions should be confirmed before deciding where an existing mirror belongs.

Revisit a mirror’s placement when the cabinet beneath it changes. The mirror may still be securely installed, yet its relationship to the new furniture can be different in width, height and visual weight.

In this Raleigh project, Handydux repositioned the mirror after the original cabinet was replaced. The wide gold frame now sits above the curved-front cabinet shown in the image.

Put the replacement cabinet in its final location before reviewing the mirror. Decide whether the mirror should follow the cabinet’s center or another feature of the wall. Look at the space between them, any objects intended for the cabinet top and the reflection from the room entrance.

A move also raises practical questions. The mirror’s actual weight, hanging fittings and existing wall condition need review. Reusing the previous position’s hardware should not be assumed. Identify any old marks or holes and agree separately on what, if any, finish work is included.

For the inquiry, send a photograph of the new cabinet in place, its dimensions and the mirror’s dimensions and weight information. Explain what changed and what you want to retain. That allows the discussion to focus on the revised arrangement instead of reconstructing the room from an outdated photograph.
