Office Artwork With Security Hardware: Plan Future Access Too
Tips
2 Min Read
A glass-encased office artwork illustrates why security fittings, placement approval and future removal should be discussed together.
When a business requests security fittings for artwork, discuss future access as well as the initial installation. Someone should know how the piece can be removed for an approved move, cleaning or maintenance without assuming it lifts off like an ordinary picture.
At Flourish Research in Apex, Handydux installed three original glass-encased artworks. The project notes identify T-screw security hardware. This photograph shows one landscape above a cabinet, with the surrounding wall and a building device still visible.
Begin with an inventory that identifies each artwork, its frame construction and the requested placement. Include any hardware requirements supplied by the owner, artist or project team. Security hardware is a specific installation detail; its presence does not establish a universal theft-prevention guarantee or make every frame suitable for the same system.
Agree on who may authorize placement changes and who will retain any relevant hardware information after completion. If the space is leased or managed, clarify access and wall-work requirements before the visit. Keep existing controls and building devices in the placement photographs.
At handoff, record which piece is where and the process for requesting a future move. This small amount of documentation helps prevent an ordinary room refresh from becoming an improvised removal attempt. For a commercial inquiry, send the item inventory and the requested security requirements together so the scope can be reviewed for the actual frames and site.
